How to Install Seamless Weft Extensions — A Step-by-Step Guide for Stylists
This guide walks through a complete Minx Magic Weft™ install the way it is taught in our certification course, so licensed cosmetologists can decide if the method fits the way they already work behind the chair.
Before You Begin — The Consultation
Assess density at the crown, nape, and temples. Note any breakage, traction patterns, or scalp sensitivity. Match color in natural light using a Minx Magic Weft™ color ring and confirm length and volume expectations.
Step 1 — Wash, Tone, and Prep
Shampoo with a clarifying, sulfate-free product. Tone if needed. Rough-dry to about 90 percent before sectioning.
Step 2 — Mapping and Sectioning
Section horizontally from ear to ear, staying at least one inch above the occipital bone. Each row sits flat against the head with consistent spacing — typically three to five rows depending on the look.
Step 3 — Anchoring the Weft
The Minx Magic Weft™ is anchored flat against the scalp with no adhesive and no thread tension on the natural hair. Done correctly, the install is invisible at the root.
Step 4 — Blending and Cutting
Blow out the hair and check for visible transitions. Point cut and dry texturize to break up any lines where the weft meets natural hair.
Step 5 — Style and Send Home
Walk the client through home care: sulfate-free products, brushing from the ends up, braiding before bed. Book the move-up six to eight weeks out.
How Long Does the Install Take?
A trained stylist completes a Minx Magic Weft™ install in about 30 minutes. Move-up appointments are even faster.
Ready to Get Certified?
Minx Magic Weft™ certification is online, self-paced, and restricted to licensed cosmetologists. The curriculum covers everything in this article in detail, plus business setup, pricing, and aftercare scripts.
